Before leaving for Thailand, Coach Kim Sang Sik finalized the list of 23 U22 Vietnam players to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. The decision was made after a comprehensive assessment of the performance, physical condition and tactical response level of each player through the concentration and training stages in 2025.
Accordingly, 5 players missed the 33rd SEA Games including: defender Le Van Ha, Dinh Quang Kiet, midfielder Tran Thanh Trung, Nguyen Duc Viet and striker Bui Vi Hao. Among these players, Vi Hao's elimination is a surprise as he is an experienced striker.
According to coach Kim Sang Sik, the above players all tried hard in training, however the coaching staff had to make the optimal choice to ensure the balance of the squad and suit the tactical requirements at SEA Games 33.

At 5:00 p.m. this afternoon (December 1), U22 Vietnam had its first training session in Thailand, preparing for the opening match against U22 Laos, taking place at 4:00 p.m. on December 3 at Rajamangala National Stadium (Bangkok).
Despite facing the opponent considered the weakest in Group B, U22 Vietnam has prepared thoroughly. Coach Kim Sang Sik asked his players to have the highest concentration, completing the goal of winning all 3 points in the opening match before considering the match against U22 Malaysia on December 11.
