" The current conflict cannot end without holding Russia accountable ," Podolyak commented on the peace plan recently put forward by two key advisers to former President Donald Trump.
According to President Zelensky's advisor, freezing the war, now in its 28th month, on the current front line would be "unusual" because Russia has violated international law and is present on Ukrainian territory.
" Ukraine has a perfectly clear position, and this has been stated in the peace formula proposed by President Zelensky, that peace must be just and peace can only be based on international law ," Podolyak emphasized.

In addition, Mr. Podolyak reiterated Ukraine's position, rejecting the ceasefire conditions proposed by President Putin as unreasonable. "We know Mr. Putin's proposal. It is completely unreasonable," Mr. Podolyak added.
Previously, Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz, two key advisors to Trump, presented the former US president with a plan to end the conflict if he won the presidential election. This plan included declaring to Ukraine that they would only accept more US weapons if they participated in peace negotiations.
At the same time, the US will warn Russia that any refusal to negotiate will lead to Washington increasing its support for Kyiv. The plan is for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine based on the existing front lines in peace talks.
According to Fleitz, Ukraine should not formally cede territory to Russia, even though Kyiv is unlikely to regain control of the entire territory in the short term. He also noted that "peace" would require providing Kyiv with additional security guarantees, including the supply of weapons.
This could be considered the most detailed plan ever from Trump's associates. He has repeatedly stated that he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 24 hours if re-elected president.
Meanwhile, on the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine should begin with a clear plan.
" It needs to be a clear beginning. I mean, there shouldn't be any pre-determined terms put forward by the West. Or let them provide us with some realistic picture of how the West views conflict resolution ," Lavrov pointed out.
