"Last weekend, many relatives also asked me about this story. I jokingly told them to ask FIFA," the VFF leader replied to Dan Tri reporter about the information that the World Football Federation (FIFA) will invest 100 million USD for Vietnam to build a new stadium.

The news that FIFA will invest 100 million USD for Vietnam to build a new stadium emerged from the social network Tik Tok last weekend. "FIFA agreed to disburse 120 million USD for Vietnam to build two stadiums with 50,000 and 100,000 seats.
This stadium is expected to start construction in March 2024. 30 million USD will be spent on site clearance, the rest of the stadium construction process will be done by FIFA and FIFA's partners," the news was widely shared on Tik Tok , but was denied by VFF leaders.
"FIFA's principle is very clear: which country's stadium must be built by that country. Even if a country wants to host the World Cup, it must invest in a quality stadium. FIFA will not sponsor money to build a stadium.
FIFA does indeed provide support to member federations on a yearly basis. However, these are key programs and targets that member federations submit to FIFA for review and approval. However, the support amount is only a portion, not a large amount," the VFF leader added.
Currently, the largest stadium in Vietnam is My Dinh National Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,000 seats and was invested with 53 million USD.
