Why was the only player of U23 Vietnam playing abroad eliminated?

Following the training session on the afternoon of August 19th, coach Hoang Anh Tuan finalized the list of 23 players for the Vietnam U23 team participating in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Three players (in yellow shirts) have been removed from the list of players for the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Accordingly, the three players who were dropped from the squad are defender Le Van Ha, midfielder Tran Ngoc Son, and forward Vu Minh Hieu.

Le Van Ha is a player who has just been called up to the national team from Da Nang Club.

Meanwhile, Minh Hieu is currently playing for Cheonan FC in the Korean second division (K-League 2).

Despite being highly rated, the 21-year-old striker has not integrated well into the Vietnam U23 team.

In addition, the attacking line of the Red Army is currently quite crowded, so it's understandable that a player might not be able to compete for a position and be dropped.

It is expected that all three players will leave Thailand and fly back to Vietnam on the morning of August 20th.

Although they were unable to help the Vietnam U23 team defend their title at the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, these players will return and wait for their opportunity during the training camp preparing for the 19th Asian Games.

During the training session on the afternoon of August 19th, the coaching staff mainly focused on light exercises for the players, interspersed with "mini-games" to create excitement for the whole team.

Earlier that morning, the Vietnam U23 team visited Rayong Provincial Stadium – the venue for the matches of Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team in Group C, as well as the semi-finals and final of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

According to the schedule, at 4 PM on August 20th, the Vietnam U23 team will begin their journey to defend their Southeast Asian U23 Championship title with a match against the Laos U23 team.
