Viettel Telecom, the telecommunications corporation, announced that to serve the massive events taking place simultaneously throughout Hanoi, such as the military parade on the morning of September 2nd at Ba Dinh Square, numerous high-altitude fireworks displays, and many other large-scale cultural and artistic events on weekends like the national concert, "Homeland in My Heart," and V-Concert, Viettel Mobile Network is urgently supplementing equipment, personnel, and technical plans to best serve the needs of the people and organizations during this period.

Specifically, Viettel has developed a comprehensive operational plan with over 2,400 technical solutions, seven times the workload required for the A50 event in Ho Chi Minh City. Among these, Viettel installed 500 new 5G BTS stations, and for the first time in Vietnam, deployed 1,200 5G smallcell stations in densely populated areas. In addition, 700 temporary 4G stations and 25 mobile broadcasting vehicles were mobilized to serve the public during the National Day celebrations on September 2nd.

With 1,700 new 5G base stations, both large and small, installed, Viettel's 5G network will cover all parade and march locations, as well as celebratory events leading up to National Day on September 2nd. Smaller 5G base stations deployed along routes help increase internet capacity and speed at crowded areas, sharing the load with the 4G network. These devices are not only powerful but also aesthetically pleasing, easily installed without affecting the urban landscape.

Approximately 2.9 million people are expected to flock to the parade area, including about 900,000 traveling from other provinces and cities. Compared to normal days, people's needs will not only include browsing the web or watching movies, but also livestreaming, video calls, and posting high-quality photos and videos.
Every citizen, with a smartphone in hand, will become a "mobile television station," creating unprecedented pressure on the network. To address this challenge, Viettel's 5G system is designed to automatically prioritize connections to the "5G highway" when available. By proactively "attracting" users with the highest data needs to 5G, Viettel will prevent the 4G network from becoming overloaded. This ensures everyone, whether using 4G or 5G devices, will have a better experience.

On this occasion, for the first time, Viettel engineers used artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the network. Based on data from event schedules, flight ticket sales, hotel rooms, social media posts, and likes, Viettel engineers used AI models to predict the most crowded locations, peak times, and movement patterns. This ensured that network resources were utilized efficiently.
The X-Optimization (XO) system, combined with AI, optimizes network quality based on customer behavior. The system continuously monitors the network and automatically makes adjustments in near real-time. Every 5 minutes, the AI automatically adjusts coverage, directing signals to areas with users and reducing interference in nearby areas.
Furthermore, when base stations show signs of overload, the system will immediately redirect users to neighboring stations that are still "unoccupied". With this capability, Viettel is ready to help people share historical moments as marching troops pass the reviewing stand, and as brilliant fireworks light up the Hanoi sky.
