DNVN - Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) and Ericsson Vietnam have agreed to cooperate in the field of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) developed on VNPT's core network infrastructure.
This collaboration will enable VNPT to deploy successful applications from other global network operators, combining them with domestic applications and devices to improve service quality and user experience.
VNPT and Ericsson will also collaborate in identifying new applications based on VNPT's new network infrastructure components, alongside existing API and network functionalities to connect with the global platform. With the goal of opening up 5G networks to application developers, this approach will facilitate easy access to API services for application developers, while fostering innovation, opening up new collaboration opportunities, and expanding the market.

Ms. Rita Mokbel, General Director of Ericsson Vietnam, stated: “The emergence of programmable networks and the provision of network features to application developers will create promising growth potential for VNPT. VNPT will have the opportunity to develop its network into an innovation platform by providing advanced 5G network features to the global developer community through open application programming interfaces (APIs).”
VNPT stated: “Network APIs are a method to increase access, utilize network infrastructure capacity, and bring new revenue potential to network operators. Building Network APIs will help the application development community in Vietnam access our network through APIs, opening up opportunities to develop innovative new applications (use cases) for 5G.”
VNPT and Ericsson have been long-standing partners across generations of mobile technology. During the transition to the 5G era, Ericsson successfully tested 5G with VNPT in 2020, demonstrating its commitment to improving network connectivity infrastructure in Vietnam.
