Earlier, on the evening of November 7th, at Da Nang airport, as flight VN186 was preparing to take off from Da Nang to Hanoi , two passengers on board were talking about having a gun on the plane. One asked, "Where is the gun?", and the other replied that it was in their luggage.
When questioned by the flight attendants, the two men claimed they were only joking. However, the flight captain ordered the takeoff to be halted and called for security assistance.
Security forces at Da Nang airport re-checked all luggage and passengers on the flight but found no weapons.
The head of the Central Vietnam Aviation Authority said that two passengers were detained for processing according to regulations. The flight continued to take off that night after it was determined that there were no security issues.
