At 1:30 PM on December 16th, while on patrol, reconnaissance, and maritime sovereignty protection duty in the southwestern area of Bach Long Vi Island, ship 636 (belonging to Squadron 137, Brigade 169, Region 1 of the Navy) received information that fishing vessel NA98829-TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa (Hoang Mai Town, Nghe An), had its anchor broken while anchored.

Noticing that the vessel NA98829-TS was drifting and at risk of capsizing due to rough seas and strong winds, vessel 636 promptly approached, transferred mooring ropes and fenders, and provided equipment, supplies, and necessities to the NA98829-TS to ensure its safety and allow it to continue its journey at sea.
At the time of the accident, the fishing vessel NA98829-TS, captained by Nguyen Van Hoa (born in 1984), had only been at sea for two days. Currently, the health of the captain and the nine crew members on board is stable.
