A glorious tradition forged in the flames of resistance.

The 141st Regiment was established on December 11, 1950, by Decision No. 64 of General Vo Nguyen Giap, Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army. Born during a crucial stage of the resistance war against French colonial aggression, the Regiment was one of the earliest established main units of our Army, contributing to laying the foundation for the creation of the 312th Division, one of the first main divisions of the Vietnam People's Army.

In the early years of the war, the Regiment achieved many outstanding victories on the battlefields of the Central Highlands, Northeast, Northwest, and Hoa Binh . The victory on the summit of Ba Vi, completely destroying three enemy companies at heights 400 and 600 during the Hoa Binh Campaign, marked an important milestone, receiving commendations from the Central Party Committee and President Ho Chi Minh; the General Staff awarded the Regiment the title "Ba Vi Regiment". In the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the Regiment directly fired the opening shots, destroying the Him Lam stronghold - the "steel gate" of the Dien Bien Phu fortified complex; where the heroic martyr Phan Dinh Giot used his body to block a machine gun emplacement, becoming an immortal symbol of revolutionary heroism.

During the war against the US, the Regiment marched to support the Southern battlefield, carried out international duties in Laos, and participated in fighting to defend the liberated zone of Quang Tri. The officers and soldiers of the Regiment continued to achieve outstanding accomplishments in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. After 1975, the Regiment continued to participate in firmly defending the sacred territorial sovereignty of the Fatherland.

For its exceptionally outstanding contributions, Regiment 141 has been awarded many prestigious honors by the Party and the State, including the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (in 2000); 4 Military Merit Orders; 3 Combat Merit Orders; 2 Orders for Protecting the Fatherland; and more than 1,000 officers and soldiers have been awarded medals and decorations.

Innovate training, improve combat readiness.

In recent years, along with the development of the 312th Division and the 12th Corps, the 141st Regiment has continued to affirm its role as a key unit with high overall quality, mobility, and combat readiness. The Party Committee and command of the Regiment closely adhere to mission requirements, focusing on leading the comprehensive reform of training, prioritizing basic, practical, and solid training methods; and improving the ability to handle complex and unexpected situations.

The training program is scientifically designed, practical, and suitable to the terrain and mission of the unit; it actively innovates training models and applies many technical improvements and situational simulations, helping soldiers hone their methods and improve their combat skills in new conditions. As a result, the quality of training is increasingly consistent, and the coordination capabilities within each unit are strengthened, meeting mission requirements in all situations.

The results of competitions, sports events, and exercises over the years are clear evidence of the Regiment's determination to excel. In 2021, the unit won first prize in the Corps-level Competition for Excellent Regimental Command and Staff; in 2025, it won first prize in the All-Army Fire Prevention and Fighting Sports Competition and second prize in the All-Army Rescue and Relief Sports Competition. Officers and soldiers also excelled, winning second prize in the national individual category of the "Army Youth and Traffic Culture" competition and a first prize in the competition to learn about the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Unification of the Country.

In carrying out its combat readiness duties, the Regiment consistently maintains strict command and combat readiness duty; regularly organizes training exercises according to various plans, especially plans for protecting targets, handling unexpected situations, natural disasters, and fires. Particularly, the spirit of "serving the people" is vividly demonstrated in activities to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters. In October 2025, the Regiment mobilized more than 2,300 officers and soldiers to participate in rescue and relief efforts for the people in Da Phuc and Trung Gia communes (Hanoi) after Typhoon No. 11. Many timely and practical actions of the soldiers left a deep impression; including two brave soldiers who rescued a person from drowning. The unit was awarded a commendation by the Hanoi People's Committee for one collective and 10 individuals.

Building exemplary and model units in the new era.

Entering a new era with higher demands, the Party Committee and the Regiment's command identified building a comprehensively strong, exemplary, and outstanding unit as a central task. Based on a thorough understanding of resolutions and directives from higher levels, the Regiment focused on building strong political resolve among officers and soldiers; steadfastly adhering to combat goals and ideals; and maintaining unwavering faith in the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects. Political and traditional education was implemented through various rich forms, effectively utilizing the cultural institutions and contributing to spreading the motivation for striving and self-improvement throughout the unit.

Upholding their exemplary role, the officers at all levels are always united, responsible, and dedicated to their work; proactive and creative in managing and commanding troops; focusing on innovating educational methods, being close to soldiers, and having a firm grasp of their ideological situation to provide timely guidance and motivation. The spirit of unity, democracy, and discipline is the foundation for the Regiment to maintain high overall strength in all tasks.

Along with the above, the Regiment intensified efforts to build a standardized and disciplined force; strictly maintaining daily and weekly routines. Logistics and technical support were fully and comprehensively ensured; many improved models and technical innovations were researched and effectively applied, helping to reduce preparation time and improve accuracy in training, especially in shooting, throwing, and target capture.
