Due to the influence of the circulation of Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi), from the night of September 7th to September 9th , Cao Bang province experienced rain, moderate rain, and in some places heavy to very heavy rain over a wide area, causing flooding and landslides in many localities in the province.

Rising floodwaters in the Bang and Gam rivers have caused flooding in wards and communes of Cao Bang city, Bao Lac town (Bao Lac district) and Pac Mieu town (Bao Lam district); and Tam Kim, Vu Minh, The Duc communes and Nguyen Binh town (Nguyen Binh district).
According to statistics, the entire province has one fatality due to landslides: Trieu Chi C. (4 years old), residing in Lung Noi hamlet, Vu Nong commune, Nguyen Binh district; 20 people are missing (identities not yet determined), including: 11 people in Lung Sung hamlet, Yen Lac commune; and 9 people in Lung Ly hamlet, Ca Thanh commune (Nguyen Binh district).
The floods damaged 391 houses (including 12 that completely collapsed and 11 affected by landslides); 326 were flooded (308 in Cao Bang city; 13 in Nguyen Binh district; and 5 in Bao Lac district); and 42 had their roofs blown off. In addition, 93.75 hectares of agricultural land were damaged or affected.
In addition, many roads in the area have been affected by landslides and flooding, causing traffic congestion. Currently, rescue forces have not been able to reach the areas where landslides have occurred and where casualties have been reported, as access to these areas has been blocked by landslides in many locations.
Colonel Vu Hong Quang, Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Police, told VietNamNet that the provincial police have deployed dozens of officers and soldiers to participate in rescue efforts in Nguyen Binh district. Accessing the scene is very difficult.
