On the morning of December 18 in Hanoi, within the framework of the 32nd Diplomatic Conference, the 21st National Foreign Affairs Conference took place with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role of foreign affairs to serve the sustainable development of localities".

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, leaders of ministries, branches, localities and heads of Vietnamese agencies abroad attended the conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed: Since the 20th National Foreign Affairs Conference, the world and regional situation has undergone major and complex changes, affecting our country as well as the development of localities in many ways.

Reviewing the achievements of local foreign affairs, the head of the diplomatic sector said that with the direction, guidance, coordination and support of central agencies, localities have performed well in border and territorial affairs, contributing to firmly consolidating the border of peace, friendship and development cooperation. Economic diplomacy of most localities has been deployed more strongly and effectively.

In the past 3 years, localities have signed 422 cooperation agreements with international partners; the exports of 5 localities including Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Thai Nguyen and Hai Phong in 2023 alone exceeded the total export turnover of the whole country 10 years ago.

Cultural diplomacy in localities continues to flourish with 13 titles recognized by UNESCO in the past 3 years and many heritage dossiers being reviewed by UNESCO. Local connections with our compatriots abroad are increasingly deeper, closer, and practically serving local development.

With the motto that each Ha Tinh person abroad is a "Cultural Ambassador", the Ha Tinh community abroad is increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity, Ha Tinh homeland traditions, preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language in the society in the host country.

The 32nd Diplomatic Conference took place from December 18-23, 2023 with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role, building a comprehensive, modern, and strong diplomacy, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress".
