An Giang strives to welcome 25 million tourists by 2026

On the afternoon of December 8, the Department of Tourism of An Giang province held a conference to review tourism, foreign affairs, and border work in 2025 and deploy directions and tasks for 2026. Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc attended and gave a speech.

In 2025, An Giang province is estimated to welcome over 24.1 million visitors (a 27.3% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the annual plan by 14.7%). Of these, international visitors are estimated at over 1.9 million (an 89.9% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the annual plan by 55.7%); total revenue is expected to reach approximately 67,684 billion VND (a 91.2% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the annual plan by 72.2%).

The provincial tourism sector is actively and proactively coordinating and organizing promotional activities, participating in cooperation activities, implementing events and programs to attract tourists; and coordinating with agencies to meticulously prepare for the organization of the APEC 2027 Conference in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone.

Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, delivered a speech at the conference.

External relations activities have yielded practical results, and cooperation with foreign partners has contributed to the socio -economic development of the province, gradually integrating An Giang province more deeply into the international community.

In his remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc commended the achievements of the tourism industry over the past year. He requested that, in 2026, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with other departments, agencies, and localities, advise the Provincial People's Committee on finalizing the An Giang Provincial Tourism Development Plan until 2030 and its orientation until 2045. This plan should focus on proposing breakthrough policies and solutions to achieve the set goals and contribute to elevating tourism to a new level.

Strengthen state management of tourism, review and rectify business activities related to tourist accommodation, travel services, tour guides, and tourist areas/sites in the locality, ensuring security and safety for tourists, ensuring environmental hygiene and food safety; and strictly manage the prices of tourism services.

At the same time, it is urgent to develop and implement the plan for training and developing human resources for tourism and foreign affairs in 2026; and to coordinate with the Training Subcommittee in training human resources to serve the APEC 2027 event.

Actively and proactively implement international integration effectively; maintain cooperative relations with traditional partners, especially the Cambodian provinces bordering Vietnam.

Further digital transformation in the tourism industry, digitizing data and information serving state management of tourism, market research, tourism promotion and marketing, etc.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of commendation to collectives that have made significant contributions to the implementation of tourism development, foreign affairs, and border management tasks in 2025.
