According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, on December 19th, the weather across the country continued to be distinctly differentiated.
The northern region is experiencing a verstärkt cold front, resulting in persistently cold weather, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold and frost, accompanied by dense fog in the early morning. Meanwhile, the central and southern regions maintain warm and sunny conditions, although some areas in the central region may experience scattered showers.
At sea, the cold air mass is causing strong winds in various sea areas. The southern South China Sea (including the Spratly Islands) will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms; during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind at levels 7-8.
In the northern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands), strong northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8-9, are expected. The sea will be rough; wave height will be 4-6 meters. In the Gulf of Tonkin, strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7-8, are expected. The sea will be rough; wave height will be 2-3.5 meters.
The sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8. The sea will be rough; waves will be 2-4 meters high.
In the sea area from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau , the central part of the East Sea, and the western part of the South East Sea (including the western part of Truong Sa), strong northeasterly winds of force 6, sometimes force 7, gusting to force 8-9, are expected. The sea will be rough; waves will be 3-5 meters high. The level of natural disaster risk due to strong winds at sea is level 2.
