According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Washington, the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, with a margin of error of 2%, shows that US Vice President Kamala Harris is maintaining a 3 percentage point lead over former President Donald Trump nationwide. Specifically, Harris garnered 46% of the vote and Trump 43%. On top issues of concern to voters, former President Trump leads Harris on immigration and the economy , with margins of 48%-35% and 46%-38% respectively. Conversely, the current Vice President has an advantage on addressing threats to democracy, as well as healthcare and abortion, with support rates of 42%-35%. Meanwhile, over the weekend, Trump surpassed Harris for the first time in The Hill/Decision Desk HQ's election forecast, with the model showing the Republican candidate with a 52% chance of winning compared to 48% for his Democratic opponent. With the race so close, both candidates are targeting voters they need to win over. In the final days of the campaign, both candidates are focusing on Latino voters – who are seen as potentially swing voters in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada.
In an interview on October 22, Vice President Harris proposed a plan to double the number of registered apprenticeships, lower hiring standards for government positions, and provide debt-forgiving loans of up to $20,000 to one million small businesses. Meanwhile, at a meeting with Latino voters in suburban Miami that same day, former President Trump asserted that his economic policies benefited the Hispanic community more.
