Indian and US Defense Ministers hold talks to discuss cooperation in military equipment production

The discussions between the two defense ministers focused on enhancing bilateral defense cooperation in a number of areas, including convergence of strategic interests and strengthening cooperation between the two countries. Both sides agreed to maintain the momentum for strong and comprehensive bilateral defense cooperation.

Notably, the Indian and US defence ministers signed a Roadmap for Defence Industry Cooperation, which identifies opportunities for collaboration in developing new technologies and co-manufacturing new and existing systems. The two countries will also facilitate increased collaboration between the defence start-up ecosystem. The Roadmap will help shape policy over the next few years.

The two sides welcomed the recent talks focusing on artificial intelligence and defense space. The two defense ministers also discussed regional security issues of mutual concern, including their shared interests in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo- Pacific region.

In a statement, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the partnership between India and the United States is vital to ensuring a free, open and rules-based Indo- Pacific region. India looks forward to working closely with the United States across the board to build capacity and further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
