The men's handball event at the 33rd SEA Games will have 6 teams competing in a round robin to determine rankings. After the qualifying round, the 2 teams with the lowest points will be eliminated, the top 4 teams will enter the semi-finals in the format of the first-placed team meeting the fourth-placed team and the second-placed team meeting the third-placed team. The 2 winning teams will compete in the final, the 2 losing teams will share third place.

The Vietnam men's handball team will compete against the Philippines, Singapore (17:00 on December 10), Thailand (17:00 on December 11), Malaysia (17:00 on December 13) and Indonesia (17:00 on December 14). The semi-finals will be on December 15 and the final will be on December 17.
