The entire Huong Hoa district has a total area of approximately 700 hectares of jackfruit coffee, mainly concentrated in mountainous areas such as Huc, Huong Phung, Huong Loc... In recent years, coffee prices have tended to increase, encouraging farmers to invest and apply scientific and technological advancements to production, resulting in favorable development of jackfruit coffee cultivation and gradually increasing yields with each harvest season.
Currently, the price of fresh jackfruit coffee ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg. This is the highest price in many years. In addition, thanks to good care and investment, the yield of jackfruit coffee is much higher than in previous years. On average, each tree yields 60-70 kg of fresh fruit, with some trees reaching 100 kg.
To improve coffee quality and ensure efficient harvesting, processing, and consumption, Huong Hoa district has directed local authorities to intensify propaganda and encourage people not to harvest unripe coffee beans, ensuring that the percentage of ripe coffee beans harvested is over 90%.
Jackfruit coffee is a drought-tolerant crop, highly resistant to pests and diseases, requires low fertilizer investment and minimal care, and is suitable for mountainous soils. Therefore, Huong Hoa district has focused on encouraging people to plant it in high hilly areas, on slopes, and in fields, intercropping it with other crops... Although the area is not large and not concentrated, this crop has brought a stable income to the people, especially ethnic minorities.
