Dong Van Stone Plateau: Journey to the world's top cultural destination

Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark has just been officially honored as " World's Leading Cultural Destination 2025" at the World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony held in Bahrain on the evening of December 6. This is the first time this place has received an award in the prestigious world-class cultural category, affirming the special attraction from the heritage values that are preserved and promoted.

Million-year-old geological heritage

Recognized by UNESCO in 2010, Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark is a rare "open-air geological museum", preserving the Earth's evolutionary history of more than 550 million years. It possesses a unique karst system, paleontological sites, majestic caves, and fossils and sedimentary layers that have been piled up over hundreds of millions of years.

Geological diversity not only creates majestic landscapes but also serves as the foundation for unique cultural values and community life to be formed and developed over many generations.

Colorful cultural space

Not only a geological wonder, Dong Van is also the common home of 17 ethnic groups. Each community brings its own identity, together creating a rich, multi-layered cultural value system. From indigenous house architecture, traditional rituals, folk knowledge treasures, to music , language and traditional crafts, all have combined into unique cultural features, attracting tourists to explore and experience.

World recognition

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that this title is not only the pride of the locality but also the recognition of the international community for the continuous efforts in preserving and promoting heritage values. He emphasized that this is an important driving force for Tuyen Quang to continue pursuing the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector.

In addition to Dong Van Stone Plateau, Vietnam tourism also achieved many successes at WTA 2025. Vietnam was honored as "World's Leading Heritage Destination". Other destinations also won in many important categories:

Sunset Town (Phu Quoc): An iconic destination that attracts tourists.
Kem Beach (Phu Quoc): World's leading regional beach.
Moc Chau: World's leading regional natural destination.
Tam Dao: World's top destination town.
