On October 13, Quang Nam Central General Hospital announced that it had just performed surgery to completely remove a 20cmx15cm sebaceous cyst in the left buttock area of ​​a 97-year-old man.

Accordingly, on October 12, patient PK (97 years old, residing in Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province) came to the hospital's Trauma Surgery Department for examination because the tumor that had been there for more than 30 years in the left buttock area showed signs of enlargement, causing discomfort, sleeplessness, and foul-smelling discharge. Through examination, X-ray and MRI, it was found that the patient had a large sebum cyst in the left buttock area measuring 20cmx15cm.

Doctors perform surgery on a 97-year-old man

For optimal treatment, the patient was indicated for surgery to remove the entire sebaceous cyst. On the morning of October 13, the surgery was performed by doctors from the Department of Trauma Surgery and Anesthesia and Resuscitation of Quang Nam Central General Hospital. In just about 45 minutes, the patient had the entire sebaceous cyst weighing more than 1kg removed, the bleeding was controlled and the surgical wound was cleaned well. After the surgery, the patient's health was stable and he was expected to be discharged after about 7 days of treatment.
