Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem requested contractors to take advantage of the sunny weather, actively mobilize machinery and personnel; and urgently complete the remaining construction work, ensuring the technical opening of Xuan Quang Bridge and Van Thien to Ben En road before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.
On the afternoon of January 20th, Comrade Mai Xuan Liem, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and representatives from various departments and agencies inspected the progress of the Xuan Quang Bridge project and the Van Thien to Ben En road project in preparation for technical opening to traffic. These are two projects funded by the provincial budget, with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Transport Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem inspects the sidewalk paving work of the Van Thien to Ben En road project.
The Van Thien to Ben En road project commenced in August 2022. It is a Class III road in a flat area, with 4 lanes and a total length of over 12 km, designed for a speed of 80 km/h. The total investment for the project is nearly 1,200 billion VND. The project passes through the territory of two districts: Nong Cong (Van Thien and Thang Long communes) with a length of 5.5 km and Nhu Thanh (Yen Tho, Xuan Phuc communes and Ben Sung town) with a length of 6.6 km.
The Van Thien to Ben En road project, with a scale of 4 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h, has been basically completed.
As a key project with significant implications for connecting and promoting socio -economic development, unlocking the tourism potential of the Nong Cong - Nhu Thanh area in particular and the western part of the province in general, the Van Thien to Ben En road has received attention and guidance from Party committees and authorities at all levels; and has also received the agreement and support of the vast majority of households affected by the project. The investor and contractor have also overcome many adverse weather conditions due to prolonged heavy rain to strive to complete the project.
The capital allocated to the project has reached 90% to date. Of this, the construction portion has received 632/727 billion VND (87%). Construction work is also largely complete. Contractors are currently focusing on constructing sidewalks and paving 1.7 km of road (the site was handed over on December 4, 2024); cleaning the road surface for water penetration; and completing the installation of traffic safety systems and lighting along the entire route, ensuring completion for traffic opening before the Lunar New Year 2025.
The Xuan Quang Bridge is a component of the project connecting National Highway 1A with National Highway 45 from Hoang Xuan commune (Hoang Hoa district) to Thieu Long commune (Thieu Hoa district). The Xuan Quang Bridge, spanning the Ma River, and the approach roads from Km5+250 to Km7+250 have a total investment of 655 billion VND, with a length of 1,042m and 25 spans. The starting point is at Km5+250 on the approach road to the Ma River, located in Hoang Xuan commune (Hoang Hoa district); the end point is at Km7+250 at the planned intersection, located in Thieu Quang commune (Thieu Hoa district).
The Xuan Quang bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge have a total investment of 655 billion VND.
The project aims to connect National Highway 1A and National Highway 45 with the Eastern North-South Expressway section passing through Thanh Hoa province, creating a foundation for the formation of modern industrial zones in the area, while shortening travel time between the western districts of the province via Thieu Hoa and Yen Dinh districts and National Highway 1A. In addition, the project will reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 45 and National Highway 217 towards National Highway 1A; and connect Hoang Hoa and Hau Loc districts with the North-South Expressway.
The contractor is mobilizing maximum manpower to complete the remaining project items in order to open the road for technical traffic before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.
Currently, construction work on the Xuan Quang bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge has been basically completed, with 632/632 billion VND disbursed, reaching 100%. Contractors are currently mobilizing manpower to work in "3 shifts, 4 teams" to complete the remaining technical items such as installing expansion joints, railings, paving the bridge surface, and finalizing the installation of traffic safety systems... ensuring completion and opening to traffic before the Lunar New Year.
The project owner reports on the construction progress.
During the field survey, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem emphasized the important significance of these key projects. These are large-scale projects, comprehensively directed by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, from land clearance to construction organization, aiming for early completion, increased regional connectivity, and the promotion of industrial, commercial, and tourism development, as well as meeting the needs of the local population.
Along with inspecting the project's construction progress, the comrade requested that contractors take advantage of the sunny and favorable weather, actively mobilize vehicles and machinery, and organize construction urgently to complete the remaining tasks before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, meeting the travel needs of the people during the Tet holiday.
The comrade also requested the investor to monitor and urge contractors to organize and implement construction quickly and promptly, while ensuring that it meets technical and aesthetic standards.
It is expected that the Xuan Quang bridge and the Van Thien to Ben En road will be opened for technical traffic to serve transportation needs during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake. Simultaneously, Thanh Hoa province will hold an inauguration ceremony on February 9th (the 12th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake).
