According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in March 2024, Vietnam exported 25,579 tons of various types of pepper, including 22,282 tons of black pepper and 3,297 tons of white pepper.

Pepper exports reached US$110.7 million, of which black pepper accounted for US$92.0 million and white pepper for US$18.7 million. Compared to February, export volume increased by 88.1% and export value increased by 102.2%.
The average export price of black pepper in March reached US$4,136/ton, and white pepper reached US$5,710/ton, an increase of US$310 for black pepper and US$55 for white pepper.
By the end of the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam had exported 56,712 tons of various types of pepper, including 49,743 tons of black pepper and 6,969 tons of white pepper. Total export value reached US$235.6 million, with black pepper accounting for US$196.9 million and white pepper for US$38.7 million. Compared to the same period in 2023, export volume decreased by 26.1% and export value decreased by 0.1%.
The average export price of black pepper reached US$3,966/ton, and white pepper reached US$5,552/ton, an increase of US$562 for black pepper and US$593 for white pepper respectively compared to the same period in 2023.
Asia was the largest export region, accounting for 37.7% with 21,365 tons, although this was a decrease of 54.3% compared to the same period last year. India was the largest export market in the Asian region, reaching 3,793 tons, an increase of 19.6% and accounting for 6.7%.
Exports to China saw the biggest drop, falling by 95.8% to just 1,083 tons compared to 25,919 tons in the same period last year. Exports to the UAE also decreased by 38.6%; Iran decreased by 29.3%, while exports to South Korea surged by 179.9% to 2,164 tons.
The Americas region ranked second, accounting for 29.7%, with the United States being the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 26.8% with 15,185 tons, an increase of 27.9% compared to the same period.
Exports to Europe accounted for 26.3%, an increase of 24.7% compared to the same period in 2023. Exports to Germany were the largest, increasing by 113.8% to 3,701 tons; followed by the Netherlands, which increased by 76.9% to 2,598 tons. Exports also increased in Russia (25.1%), France (8.0%), Spain (32.3%), Italy (203.6%), etc., but decreased in the UK (-5.6%), Poland (-21.1%), and Ireland (-75.4%).
Exports to Africa decreased by 23.1%, with Egypt down 9.7% to 1,389 tons and Senegal down 38.0% to 588 tons.
