On December 5, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organized the conference "Festival in the Creative City" with the theme "Building the future - Good practices and Development Framework from Hanoi and the UNESCO Creative Cities Network".
The conference was attended by international experts and representatives of cities in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. to discuss and promote global connectivity in organizing the Creative Design Festival in particular and building Creative Cities in general.
After 6 years of becoming a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Hanoi has had many activities to concretize its commitments to building a Creative City.
The city has been affirming its position as one of the dynamic and creative cities in Asia. In 2024, the city established an Advisory Council of Experts; built creative activity spaces; developed criteria and creative activity spaces; established the Hanoi Creative Activities Coordination Center; built the Hanoi Creative Cultural Space Network connecting organizations, individuals, experts, artists, community groups operating in the field of creative design...
In particular, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival has become an attractive annual activity, spreading the spirit of creativity to the community.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong emphasized that the results were achieved thanks to the city's efforts, as well as the attention, support and advice of many good experts in the field of creative design.
UNESCO Representative to Vietnam Jonathan Baker said Hanoi has nurtured a dynamic creative ecosystem: festivals that enliven public spaces, community networks, and initiatives that empower young designers to envision and create new futures for their city.
At the Conference, representatives of Creative Cities such as Chiang Mai (Thailand), Asahikawa (Japan), Deagu (Korea)... shared experiences in building Creative Cities in localities, public-private-community cooperation methods, and ways to awaken creativity in young people.
Representatives of many Creative Cities in Vietnam such as Da Nang , Lam Dong... also shared experiences in building Creative Cities in their localities.
Localities all promote the role of the community, the participation and facilitation of the government.
These experiences not only help Hanoi but also other localities participating in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network of Vietnam to refer to and learn from experiences to apply in their localities.
