Recently, the case of a man in China forcing his tenant, who had terminal cancer, out of his home has sparked outrage on social media in the country.
Accordingly, Mr. Zhang, the homeowner, rented his apartment to a couple for 5,500 RMB per month (approximately 19 million VND). Mr. Zhang said he rented it out at a price lower than the market rate to earn some extra money while waiting for a buyer.

In the lease agreement, he requested that the couple always be available to view the property if a buyer came to inspect it. They both agreed and signed a contract to rent the apartment until mid-November of this year.
However, on September 4th, Mr. Zhang unexpectedly posted a notice on the apartment door, demanding that the couple renting the apartment move out within a week. The reason was that while showing the apartment to potential buyers, Mr. Zhang noticed the wife was bald. When he inquired, the husband revealed that his wife had terminal cancer.
"This is a private matter, unrelated to the rental agreement, so we have no reason to tell him," the husband said.
However, this worried Mr. Zhang, who feared that if his wife died there, the apartment would be "haunted" and its value would decrease by 500,000 to 1 million yuan (equivalent to 1.7 to over 3.4 billion VND). Not only did he evict the tenants, but he also forced the couple to sign a compensation agreement in case the property depreciated in value.
Both parties rejected the agreement and stated they would only leave the house if Mr. Zhang compensated them for terminating the lease prematurely. To date, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.
