National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man successfully concluded his official visit to Laos and attended the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the evening of October 19, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly arrived at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi , successfully concluding the official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic and attending the 45th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA-45) at the invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, AIPA President Saysomphone Phomvihane.

In Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone; and held talks with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

During the visit, the National Assembly Chairman met with leaders and former leaders of Laos; received President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Boviengkham Vongdara and Vice President of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee Chanphenh Soutthivong; and received the President of the Lao State Audit Office.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly visited the staff of the Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lao National Assembly; and the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing friendly cooperation relations between Hoi An city, Quang Nam province (Vietnam) and Luang Prabang city, Luang Prabang province (Laos).

At the first plenary session of the 45th AIPA General Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man delivered an important speech, affirming that parliamentary cooperation will be the driving force to promote the implementation of building a law-based ASEAN Community, reflecting the voice and aspirations of the people, putting the people at the center of all development policies, creating comprehensive and profound changes for the community and each member country. With the desire to further promote the role of parliaments in enhancing connectivity, the National Assembly Chairman proposed 5 priority orientations in the coming time.

On the occasion of attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman had bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from Thailand, Singapore, and Belarus.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man left the capital Vientiane, successfully concluding his official visit to Laos and attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

With more than 20 activities, the visit was a great success, fulfilling all the set goals and requirements. The visit once again affirmed the consistent policy of our Party and State to always give the highest priority and attach importance to developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; affirmed Vietnam's strong and comprehensive support for the cause of innovation, protection and construction of Laos; at the same time demonstrated the trust and closeness between the two countries' senior leaders as well as between the Chairman of our National Assembly and the Chairman of the Lao National Assembly.

The participation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly in AIPA-45 is of great significance, demonstrating the proactive, active participation and responsible contribution of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the parliaments of member countries to consolidate the central role, solidarity and unity in ASEAN, promote intra-bloc cooperation, expand multifaceted relations with parliaments in and outside the region; promote the responsibility and role of AIPA for peace, stability and development, and at the same time put forward many valuable initiatives to share and support the Governments of ASEAN countries in solving priority issues of the region.
