At 1 PM on February 8th (the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon), after receiving information about a donated lung from the Central Military Hospital 108, the National Lung Hospital urgently activated its lung transplant program and organized a consultation to select a recipient that same night.
Luck has come to PAT (21 years old, from Bac Kan ), a young woman who was a university student but had to drop out due to unfortunately contracting end-stage lung disease.
When selected for a lung transplant, T. was already on long-term oxygen therapy at home and required constant assistance with daily activities.
The patient has been managed and monitored at the National Lung Hospital since 2020 and has been awaiting a lung transplant for several months. Doctors at the hospital regularly examine her during her current recovery process.
The lung transplant that saved the young girl's life once again affirms the skill and expertise of Vietnamese doctors in mastering cutting-edge techniques in the field of organ transplantation.
Currently, patient PAT's health is improving, recovery is rapid, and she is walking daily.
The success of the lung transplant is a significant achievement of Vietnam's healthcare sector, contributing greatly to the health of patients and the people.
