On January 21st, the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Gia Phong commune (Gia Vien district) held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister 's Decision recognizing Gia Phong commune as a Safe Zone.
Attending the announcement ceremony were Comrade Tran Song Tung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Major General Le Quang Dao, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard; leaders of several provincial departments and agencies; leaders and former leaders of Gia Vien district; representatives of families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veteran revolutionary cadres, pre-revolution cadres, etc.

Based on historical events, historical relics, and the contributions of the people of Gia Phong commune to the revolutionary movement during the resistance against the French and American forces, the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Gia Phong commune have compiled a scientific dossier to submit to the competent authority for recognition as a Safe Zone commune meeting 4 out of 5 criteria: Being directed by Party committees from the Regional Party Committee and Military Party Committee upwards to build a revolutionary safe zone; Being a place of residence (shelter, hiding, and keeping secrets), work, and leadership activities in building the revolutionary movement during the resistance against the French and American forces for cadres of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and political and social organizations from the Regional and Military Region levels upwards; A safe zone is a place where armed forces (army, police) from company level and above are stationed, trained, assembled, and transited; a place with storage facilities for food, weapons, equipment, uniforms, and supplies during the resistance against the French and American forces, serving the Front at the campaign or military region level and above; a place with a strong revolutionary base and movement during the resistance against the French and American forces, where the local armed forces proactively or in coordination with regular armed forces organized battles against the enemy to protect the safety of cadres, agencies, and organizations of the Party and State located in the area; or a place where important victorious battles took place, contributing to creating a favorable battlefield situation for the revolution and resistance in the area and surrounding regions. On September 15, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1079/QD-TTg recognizing Gia Phong commune as a safe zone.
At the ceremony, Comrade Tran Song Tung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented the Prime Minister's Decision and offered flowers to congratulate the Party Committee, government, and people of Gia Phong commune.

Congratulating and commending the Party Committee, government, and people of Gia Phong commune, the leaders of Gia Vien district affirmed that being recognized as a safe zone commune demonstrates the Party and Government's attention to the revolutionary base area, acknowledging the contributions of the people of Gia Phong commune, creating conditions for the commune to have more opportunities for investment and socio-economic development, maintaining security and national defense, and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. At the same time, it contributes to educating the younger generation about history, patriotic traditions, revolutionary spirit, and unwavering will.
To honor the sacrifices of previous generations, the people in the revolutionary base area, and to effectively implement the Prime Minister's Decision, the leaders of Gia Vien district propose that the Party Committee, government, and people of Gia Phong commune continue to uphold the glorious traditions of their heroic homeland, unite, focus on leading the people to overcome difficulties and challenges, and exploit potential and advantages to build Gia Phong into a comprehensively developed commune in all fields.
The immediate focus is on completing the 2024 targets, as set by the Party Congress of the commune for the 2020-2025 term, striving to be recognized as an advanced new rural commune and a model new rural commune as soon as possible; paying attention to improving the living standards of families of war veterans and policy beneficiaries; and focusing on building infrastructure and socio-cultural facilities.
Particular attention should be paid to protecting and promoting the value of national historical relics; disseminating and educating the people, especially the younger generation, about the historical traditions of the commune's Party Committee...
