Member of the Party Executive Committee of the National Assembly Office, Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Representative Newspaper Pham Thi Thanh Huyen attended and directed the Congress.
Also attending the Congress were Deputy Editors-in-Chief: Le Thanh Kim, Nguyen Thi Minh Hang, Nguyen Sy Hao and all members of the Trade Union of the People's Representative Newspaper.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Chairman of the Trade Union of the People's Representative Newspaper for the 2023-2028 term Nguyen Dang Hai said that the 5th Congress for the 2025-2030 term was held early to meet the requirements of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus. The Congress focused on evaluating the results of the 2023-2025 term, pointing out limitations and determining goals and directions for the next term.
The People's Representative Newspaper's grassroots union currently has 163 members operating in 6 departmental unions. During the past term, the union has promoted its representative role well, taking care of the material and spiritual life of cadres, civil servants and workers; closely coordinating with the government, closely following the direction of the higher-level union and the grassroots Party Committee. Patriotic emulation movements, building cultural agencies and digital transformation have been effectively implemented, contributing to improving the quality of the editorial office's operations.
The Union has continued to effectively maintain the movements of “Cultural Agency”, “Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful Office”. The working environment has been comprehensively improved: tidy office, green - clean campus, scientific guidance system, creating a professional and modern appearance.
The movement “Digital Education for the People - Digital Parliament” has been vigorously implemented, contributing to promoting digital transformation throughout the agency. Operating a paperless office, digitizing records and documents, and managing electronic documents helps improve work efficiency, smooth connection and high security.
In particular, in 2025, the Union launched a special emulation movement to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly and the 80th anniversary of the National Assembly Office's tradition day, thereby strongly spreading the pride and responsibility of the National Assembly's journalism team.
Regarding social activities, with the spirit of mutual love and support, over the years, the grassroots Trade Union of the People's Representative Newspaper has made many practical and effective contributions to the activities of gratitude, remembering the source of water, social security and the community, proactively and actively participating in movements, campaigns, and emulation movements such as: "The whole country joins hands to build new countryside", "The whole country joins hands for the poor, No one is left behind.
In 2023, more than 170 million VND will be mobilized to build a community bookshelf in Cao Bang; in 2025, computers and more than 600 books will be provided to schools in Lang Son. Propaganda and political and ideological education will be focused on, along with training in professional ethics for journalists.
In professional work, many union members have won high prizes at major press awards such as the National Press Award, Dien Hong Award, and Golden Hammer and Sickle Award. Cultural and sports activities are maintained, creating a positive and united working environment.
Towards the 2025 - 2030 term with the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the People's Representative Newspaper's grassroots trade union aims to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction; strengthen political and ideological education; improve professional qualifications so that union members can successfully complete their political tasks.
At the same time, organize practical emulation movements; perform well the function of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members; actively participate in building a clean and strong Party and government. Thereby, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Congress of the People's Representative Newspaper for the 2025-2030 term and building the People's Representative Newspaper to develop sustainably.
In her speech directing the Congress, Party Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of the People's Representative Newspaper Pham Thi Thanh Huyen emphasized that the Congress is an important event, taking place at a time when the Newspaper is strongly transforming towards a converged, multi-platform editorial office, requiring greater efforts from all staff, reporters, editors and workers.
The Editor-in-Chief of the People's Representative Newspaper highly appreciated the efforts of the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union during the past term. The Trade Union has truly accompanied the Party Committee and the Newspaper's leadership in implementing political tasks, building internal solidarity and taking care of union members' lives; performing well the role of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members; fully participating in contents related to regimes and policies; promptly grasping thoughts and aspirations, creating consensus in the entire agency. Taking good care of union members' lives and building editorial office culture are maintained regularly, creating a humane, close and united working environment.
In addition to the achievements, Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen also frankly acknowledged the shortcomings and limitations, which are: some emulation movements are not really profound; the work of grasping union members' ideology is sometimes not timely; the application of technology in union activities is still limited.
In the coming period, Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen suggested that the Trade Union should promote more clearly its role as a representative of workers; innovate its working methods in a modern and flexible direction; link the emulation movement with the Newspaper's core political tasks; and foster a team of professional, courageous and creative union members. In particular, build a strong, democratic, responsible and united Trade Union.
“I always want to build the People's Representative Newspaper into a modern - humane - creative - professional newsroom, where every staff member, reporter and editor feels proud and inspired to perform well the duties of a National Assembly journalist. The Party Committee and the Newspaper's leadership are committed to always listening to union members' opinions, creating favorable conditions for the Union to operate, improving the working environment, enhancing dialogue and accompanying the Union in building a convergent newsroom”, Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen affirmed.
Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen also called on all union members to always maintain the mettle and qualities of a revolutionary journalist of the National Assembly; to constantly study, innovate, and be creative; to live responsibly, work with discipline, and behave humanely; to unite and accompany the Trade Union and the Newspaper's leadership to contribute to building the People's Representative Newspaper to grow stronger and stronger.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the People's Representative Newspaper's Trade Union for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 7 delegates.
