Speaking at the conference, Mr. Do Tien Sy, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Director General of the Voice of Vietnam, stated that 2023 is considered a crucial milestone in Vietnam's energy restructuring process. Green transition in the energy sector is gradually becoming the dominant trend and is one of the top priorities and needs today.
Vietnam is on the list of countries with great potential to invest in new renewable energy sources such as: solar power, wind power, biomass power, ocean wave power and biogas, in addition to available energy sources such as liquefied natural gas, hydropower and coal power.

In recent years, Vietnam's energy industry has developed strongly in all stages: exploration, exploitation, production, transmission, distribution and import and export of energy. That has contributed significantly to the process of socio-economic development.
However, the scale and efficiency of the energy sector remain low, Vietnam's energy security is not yet guaranteed, and "electricity load shedding" occurs frequently during peak periods. National oil reserves are insufficient to stabilize prices in the event of an international oil price crisis.
Based on the current state of Vietnam's energy sector, VOV Online Newspaper - Vietnam Voice Radio, in collaboration with relevant units, is organizing the "Vietnam Energy Sector Prospects Forum". This is a necessary and meaningful activity, bringing together consultations from many experts, scientists , managers, and the experience of businesses to discuss and exchange views on the current status and potential for future energy development in Vietnam.
At the forum, delegates discussed and contributed additional recommendations and proposals on major policies of the Party and State to create conditions for the development of new energy and renewable energy in the coming period.
This is also a topical issue, being mentioned by the 27th Session of the National Assembly Standing Committee in the content of the Special Topic supervision: Implementation of policies and laws on energy development in the period 2016 - 2021.
The delegates also suggested the need to review, develop, and improve mechanisms, policies, and technical and financial support to promote investment, production, and business projects related to energy conservation and efficiency. In particular, they emphasized the need to research and develop an energy data center, a database, and information technology applications related to energy and energy conservation and efficiency.
