High-quality olive oil will have a light color, ranging from yellow to green, while avocado oil will range from pale yellow to dark green. Both oils should be clear and free of cloudiness or sediment.

When buying olive oil or avocado oil, people should avoid purchasing those in clear bottles and instead opt for those in dark glass bottles. This is because clear bottles allow more light to affect the oil, thereby reducing its quality and shelf life, according to The Daily Meal.
