This move demonstrates the school's determination to promote domestic research and technology transfer, contributing to bringing "Made in Vietnam" pharmaceutical products into practice.
Associate Professor Nguyen Van Chinh – Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy – said that the university has currently allocated funding for two Category A research projects led by Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Tuan and Dr. Ly Minh Huy.

In addition, 20 Category B research projects were approved for support, with a total budget of over 6 billion VND. "We prioritize research with practical applications, serving medical examination and treatment, and aiming towards pharmaceutical products bearing Vietnamese brands," shared Associate Professor Nguyen Van Chinh.
During the period 2020-2025, the university's scientists implemented more than 8,250 research projects, including: 12 national-level projects, 40 ministerial-level projects, and 21 projects funded by the Nafosted Foundation. As a result, the university published 1,932 articles in ISI/Scopus journals and 1,856 articles in domestic journals, of which 400 articles were in the top 10% of leading scientific journals worldwide.
According to the plan for 2030, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will build strong research groups and key national science and technology programs.
The university plans to invest 265 billion VND in research activities during the 2025-2030 period; recruit 5 more international experts in cutting-edge fields such as medical AI and precision medicine, and train 50 PhDs to strengthen its research workforce.
The Chairman of the University Council, Professor Tran Diep Tuan, stated that although the university has achieved many successes in research and international publications, its potential remains enormous.
"We will focus our funding on projects with high practical value, addressing domestic health issues. The goal is to create research products branded 'Made in Vietnam' that make a practical contribution to the community," Professor Tuan affirmed.
