Ho Chi Minh City University of Science's floor scores for many majors have decreased sharply.

This afternoon, July 17, the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced the threshold score to ensure input quality (floor score) of two methods of considering the 2025 high school graduation exam scores and the 2025 capacity assessment exam scores.

Minimum score for high school exam: 16 - 24 points

For the 2025 high school graduation exam score review method (method 2), the floor score for the school's majors ranges from 16 to 24 points (including bonus points and priority points), in which the two majors of semiconductor technology and microchip design have the highest floor score.

This score is equivalent to the school's 2024 score, but the floor score for many majors has decreased by 0.5 - 6 points. Notably, the floor score for data science last year was 24 points, but this year it has decreased to 18 points.

The minimum score for artificial intelligence, computer and information technology, computer science (advanced program) and information technology (English enhancement program) also decreased by 4 points, to 20 points.

Minimum score for considering competency assessment test scores: 600 - 850 points

For the Ho Chi Minh City National University's ability assessment test score method (method 3), the floor score for the school's majors ranges from 600 to 850 points (including bonus points and priority points). Of which, the two majors of semiconductor technology and microchip design also have the highest floor score.

The next highest minimum scores of the school are 780 points, including: computer and information technology, computer science (advanced program), artificial intelligence, information technology (English-enhanced program), electronics and telecommunications engineering (English-enhanced program)...

According to MSc. Hoang Thanh Tu, deputy head of the information and communication department of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), because the high school graduation exam scores in math this year were low, while all majors of the school considered math, the floor score this year decreased.

"The above quality assurance threshold is not an equivalent conversion. The school will convert scores between admission methods according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Candidates should note that the floor score is not the admission standard score. The actual admission standard score is decided by the number of applications and the number of candidates, the school considers from top to bottom," Ms. Tu added.

Additional conditions for microchip design and semiconductor technology industries

The threshold to ensure the quality of the two majors of microchip design and semiconductor technology, in addition to the general requirements, candidates registering for these two majors according to the regulations of the Ministryof Education and Training on training program standards, must meet the following conditions: the math score in the admission combination must be from 8.0 or higher and the total score of the 3 admission subjects must be from 24 or higher.

In method 3, in addition to the general requirements, candidates registering for the above two majors according to the regulations of the Ministry must meet the following conditions: have an average score of 8.0 or higher in math for 3 years of grades 10, 11, and 12 on a scale of 10. Achieve a capacity assessment score when converted to the corresponding 2025 high school score of 24 points or higher according to the regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
