Dong Nai's forest area is the largest in the Southeast region.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, after the merger of the province, Dong Nai has the largest forest area in the Southeast region. Specifically, the total forest area and forestry land under the planning of 3 types of forests of the province is nearly 349 thousand hectares, accounting for about 27% of the total natural area. Of which, special-use forests are more than 135 thousand hectares, production forests are more than 132 thousand hectares, the rest are protective forests, the forest cover rate is more than 25%.

Forests in the province are characterized by many rare species of animals and plants with high conservation value. Notable areas are: Cat Tien National Park, Bu Gia Map National Park, Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve...

In recent years, thanks to the attention paid to forest management and protection in the former Binh Phuoc and former Dong Nai provinces, the forest area and forest cover ratio have been maintained. There have been no major violations that have seriously affected forest resources. Many projects, plans, and schemes for exploiting values ​​associated with protecting forest resources have been issued and effectively implemented.
