According to local reports, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake (2015), Hai Duong province organized birthday celebrations for nearly 50,000 elderly people aged 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 years and older. Among them, 380 people turned 100 years old, an increase of 26 compared to 2024.
Longevity celebrations were held simultaneously in villages and residential areas throughout the province on the 4th and 5th of January. The gift amounts for those celebrating their 70th and 75th birthdays were 350,000 VND each; for those aged 80 and 85, 450,000 VND each; for those aged 95, 750,000 VND each; for those aged 101-109, 1.5 million VND each; and for those aged 110 and above, 3 million VND each.

Celebrating and wishing longevity reflects the national tradition of "remembering the source when drinking water" and enhances the cultural value of "respecting the elderly brings longevity" among local authorities and people. This encourages and motivates the spirit of "elderly people setting a good example," so that they can continue to live happily, healthily, and productively for their families and society.
Hai Duong province currently has approximately 374,000 elderly people (accounting for about 18% of the population), of which over 54,000 are 80 years old or older.
