The A Lưới District Ethnic Groups Traditional Culture Village, built in Hồng Thượng commune and covering an area of 5 hectares, has just been inaugurated and put into use. It has become a community cultural center for the Pa Cô, Tà Ôi, Cơ Tu, and other ethnic groups.
Nguyen Le Thuy Tien, a Pa Co ethnic minority from Hong Thuong commune, was very excited to share the joy and interact with friends from other ethnic groups at the Traditional Ethnic Culture Village in A Luoi district: “I always respect and wear my ethnic costumes. Wherever I go, I talk about my ethnic group and I am very proud of it. I always spread that pride to others. I have met many friends from different ethnic groups such as Co Tu, Ta Oi, Pa Hy… Everyone is working together to spread the word and introduce their friends to the cultural characteristics of their ethnic group…”
The Traditional Ethnic Culture Village has been established, fulfilling the aspirations of the ethnic minority communities in A Lưới district. Located amidst picturesque sim flower hills, the village comprises a community center and three traditional houses representing the Pa Cô, Tà Ôi, and Cơ Tu ethnic groups.
This is a "common village," a place for preserving, maintaining, recreating, and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in A Lưới district. This common village also embodies the spirit of unity, unwavering loyalty to the Party and President Ho Chi Minh of the ethnic minority people of A Lưới district. Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Thuong commune, A Lưới district, affirmed: "The Ethnic Minority Cultural Village of A Lưới district is built in Hong Thuong commune. This is a great honor for our commune. Together with A Lưới district, we are both preserving the rich traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities and developing tourism in the area in the future."
At the Ethnic Minority Traditional Culture Village, many activities will take place, including reenactments of traditional festivals, exhibitions of handicrafts, demonstrations of traditional crafts, and folk cultural activities. Ms. Le Thi Them, Head of the Culture and Information Department of A Luoi District, said that the artisans and people of the ethnic groups themselves become the subjects and beneficiaries of their traditional cultural activities: “The arts and folk culture activities are organized according to the traditions of the ethnic groups. The artisans are the ones who directly transmit, perform, and practice activities related to festivals and the traditional cultural features of their ethnic groups.”
The Traditional Ethnic Culture Village in A Lưới district has received nearly 40.8 billion VND in investment from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction and the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2030, with Phase 1 from 2021-2025. Currently, Phase I of the project has been completed, including the inter-communal road connecting Phu Vinh commune to Hong Thuong commune, linking the Ho Chi Minh Highway to the Traditional Ethnic Culture Village, along with many supporting items and infrastructure to meet the needs of daily life and attract tourists for experiential travel.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of A Luoi District, said: "The district is building a community center where traditional cultural products of ethnic minority groups will be exhibited and displayed. At the same time, it will also be a place for educating the younger generation, and major district-level and ethnic group events will be held here, both preserving and developing local tourism."
In the next phase, A Lưới district will develop a detailed planning project for the traditional Ethnic Minority Village in A Lưới district, covering an area of 30 hectares. This includes the construction of various components such as a central square, a craft village area, a boat dock, an ethnographic museum, a burial ground, rice fields, and a recreation of the daily life of the people in the past. This will contribute to the preservation and promotion of the cultural activities that have been included by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the list of national tangible and intangible cultural heritage that need to be preserved and developed.
