In preparation for the LPBank Cup 2024 international friendly tournament in Hanoi during the FIFA Days in September, the Thai national team had been training since September 2nd. However, coach Masatada Ishii and his team only arrived in Vietnam on the evening of September 5th, two days before their opening match against Russia at My Dinh Stadium. After landing at Noi Bai Airport at 8:30 PM, the Thai team spent considerable time waiting for immigration and baggage claim. Therefore, by the time they returned to the Grand Hotel to check in and rest, the opening match between Vietnam and Russia on the evening of September 5th was almost over, missing the opportunity to watch it on television.

In the list of 23 players traveling to Vietnam, coach Masatada Ishii has called up 10 new players making their national team debut, mostly under 23 years old. The Japanese coach explained this as a way to test and discover a new generation of players for Thai football. Among these, notable newcomers include center-back Songwut Kraikruan (1.88m tall), center-back Jonathan Khemdee (1.90m) of Thai and Danish descent, and the Swedish-born duo of midfielder William Weidersjo and striker Patrik Gustavsson. Tomorrow afternoon (September 6th), Thailand and Russia will attend a pre-match press conference at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). Later that evening, both teams will have training sessions at My Dinh Stadium at 5 PM and 7 PM.
The LPBank Cup 2024 international friendly tournament, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), features three national teams: Vietnam, Russia, and Thailand.
