Ms. Tinh's family circumstances are particularly difficult. She works as a hired laborer to support her three young children, whose husband abandoned them. Two of her seven-year-old twin sons suffer from hyperactivity due to a pervasive developmental disorder, speech delay, and autism; her 13-year-old eldest son has thyroid cancer and has been prescribed surgery and radiation therapy, but the family cannot afford the costs. To support her family with three sick children, Ms. Le Thi Tinh (39 years old) single-handedly cares for them, only working part-time selling vegetables at the Lien Nghia night market in the evenings to earn a little money. Without a proper home, the four of them have been living in her sister's makeshift house; it's barely a shelter from the rain and sun, a patched-up, temporary dwelling for the past few years.

Mr. Nguyen Van Luc, Chairman of the Association, said: "This charity house is expected to be built on an area of nearly 80 square meters and will be inaugurated in mid-August this year. This is the 150th charity house of Dan Tri Newspaper and the 380th house donated by the Association for the Support of Poor Patients, Disabled People and Orphans of Lam Dong Province to poor families inside and outside the province."
