Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Dong added that according to the original plan, the working group planned to examine and provide medicine to about 700 people, mainly policy beneficiaries in the communes of Muong Khuong district ( Lao Cai province) on August 28. However, thanks to good communication work and the trust and love of the people in the border area for military doctors, in just the morning, the number of people coming for examination almost reached the planned target.

Leaders of Lao Cai province, Military Medical Department, and Muong Khuong district talked and encouraged special policy beneficiaries of the district to come for examination and receive free medicine.

In the early afternoon, despite the hot weather, the number of people coming for health check-ups, health consultations, and free medicine continued to increase. By nearly 4 p.m., according to statistics from the professional department, the working group had examined, provided health consultations, and provided free medicine to more than 1,000 policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances, nearly double the initial estimate.

Talking with Colonel, Doctor Nguyen Huy Hoang, Acting Director of Military Hospital 109, the unit assigned to coordinate with Military Central Hospital 108 to directly carry out medical examination and treatment activities, ensuring free medicine bags for policy beneficiaries, we learned that in this medical examination and medicine distribution session, the hospital mobilized a "strong" force; all doctors have high professional qualifications, rich experience, good working style, most of whom are commanders of specialized departments of the hospital.

The eye clinic is always packed with people waiting for examination and consultation.

To improve the quality of examination and treatment, the hospital has brought in a lot of modern equipment and machinery, basically meeting the needs of examination, testing, and detecting common diseases for the people. During the examination process, if a disease is detected, the doctors will enthusiastically advise and guide the people on treatment methods or prescribe specialized measures. All subjects coming for examination are given a free bag of supplements worth 400,000 VND. In addition, the hospital also prepares a number of medicines to provide free of charge to the people to use to treat common diseases as prescribed by the examining doctor.

According to Colonel, MD Nguyen Huy Hoang, through examination and testing, many people coming for examination suffered from diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, eye diseases, thyroid, bones, joints, etc. After receiving enthusiastic advice from doctors, people's awareness of health care and self-protection was raised; most people coming for examination were excited, optimistic, and clearly understood their own health situation.

All patients coming for examination are given free medicine by military doctors and detailed instructions on how to use it.

Observations by reporters of the People's Army Newspaper showed that although the examination time was over by late afternoon, many people from villages far from the town center still came to register for medical examination. In many special cases, military doctors still enthusiastically examined and consulted people to find appropriate treatment.

It can be affirmed that the activity of providing free medical examination and medicine to people in the border area of Muong Khuong district, within the 8th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program, was a great success. The working trip of the Army medical delegation chaired by the Military Medical Department brought about practical results, leaving a good impression in the hearts of cadres and people in the border area of Muong Khuong district. Thereby, strengthening the solidarity and attachment between the military and the people, beautifying the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers' doctors in the new era.
