Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, August 17, 2025, continued to rise to unprecedented levels, fluctuating between 116,800 and 117,500 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in the former Dak Nong region are buying coffee at the highest price of 117,500 VND/kg. This is a sharp increase of 2,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 117,300 VND/kg, an increase of 2,500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by 2600 VND/kg compared to yesterday and are trading at 117,200 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 2800 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 116,800 VND/kg.

Coffee prices have risen sharply primarily due to dwindling domestic supply. After a long harvesting period, farmers no longer have much coffee in stock. Meanwhile, export businesses still need to buy more to fulfill contracts, putting upward pressure on domestic purchase prices.
International speculators also contributed to the rise in coffee prices as they became more cautious in long-term futures trading. This reduced supply on the exchange, thereby driving up both near-term and spot prices.
Limited supply and unfavorable weather forecasts in Brazil are the main factors driving prices up. Brazilian coffee exports in the first seven months of 2025 fell by 23% year-on-year, further increasing concerns about supply shortages.
However, experts still advise caution because coffee prices are often unpredictable, influenced by many factors such as US tax policies and the global economic situation. Businesses and dealers should carefully consider these factors before making any buying or selling decisions.

Longer-term contracts rose more sharply than shorter-term contracts, reflecting expectations of a coffee supply shortage, even as Vietnam enters its harvest season in October 2025. Coffee prices increased due to global import and export difficulties, including unclear tariffs and disruptions to sea shipping.
Adverse weather conditions, such as frost in Brazil, have raised concerns about supply, while Vietnam is also tightening its supply ahead of the new crop season. Additionally, the anticipated Fed interest rate cut in September 2025 is prompting more investors to be aggressive due to lower capital costs.
