According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), there are currently about 200 businesses operating in the pepper processing and trading sector nationwide. Of these, the top 15 businesses account for up to 70% of exports. The Vietnamese pepper industry currently has 14 deep processing plants, with the participation of 5 foreign companies, holding nearly 30% of the export market share.

Vietnamese pepper processing technology has met the standards of major markets worldwide. Many businesses have invested in modern processing plants, adhering to international standards such as ASTA, ESA, and JSSA, helping to diversify products. Product lines include whole black pepper, whole white pepper, ground pepper, and packaged pepper, meeting global consumer demand.

Experts believe that increased supply from the new harvest combined with weak international demand are the main reasons putting downward pressure on the market. Despite this, farmers and distributors continue to hold onto their stock instead of selling, reducing trading volume.

Currently, pepper inventories in Vietnam and worldwide are nearing their lowest levels. Therefore, experts predict that pepper prices will remain high and gradually increase in 2025. The two main markets for pepper consumption globally remain the US and China, which are also the two markets where Vietnamese pepper is being primarily targeted.
