On December 24, information from Nghe An Provincial Police said that the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , Smuggling, and Environment of the Provincial Police had just presided over and coordinated with Cua Lo Town Police to arrest a case of illegal transportation of a large quantity of wild animals.

Specifically, at 3:00 p.m. on December 15, 2023, in Nghi Huong ward, Cua Lo town (Nghe An), the Department of Investigation Police on corruption, economic, smuggling, and environmental crimes of the Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with Cua Lo town police to discover and arrest 2 cars driven by VXT (born in 1987) and L.D.T. (born in 1977), both residing in Hanoi, for the act of illegally transporting wild animals.

The exhibits were seized by the police.

At the time of inspection, the two subjects could not present documents or procedures proving the origin of the above animals.

The police have temporarily seized the exhibits including: 2 cars, 1,818 wild animals of various kinds (turtles, snakes, pythons, parrots, etc.). Among them are some animals listed in Appendix I, the list of wild animals and plants listed in the Appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Currently, the police are focusing on completing the dossier and handling the case according to the law.
