On the afternoon of June 29, information from Trieu Son District Police said that in Dong Thang Commune (Trieu Son), a death occurred due to the use of electric wire to prevent rats from destroying crops.

Accordingly, Dong Thang Commune Police received a crime report from Mr. Le Dinh Toan, Head of Dai Dong 2 Village, Dong Thang Commune, reporting that in the rice field of Mr. Dinh Xuan Thinh, born in 1948, residing in Dai Dong 2 Village, Dong Thang Commune, a death occurred due to the use of electric wire to prevent rats from destroying crops.

Specifically, at 9:00 p.m. on June 24, 2023, Mr. Ngo Van Luong, born in 1991, and Mr. Ngo Van Y, born in 1993, two brothers living in Dai Dong 2 village, Dong Thang commune, while fishing in the above area, got caught in a 1mm steel wire that Mr. Dinh Xuan Thinh had strung around the fields and ponds for protection. As a result, Mr. Ngo Van Luong was taken to Phuc Thinh General Hospital, Thanh Hoa City for emergency treatment and died. Mr. Ngo Van Y suffered 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree burns on his right hand and is currently being treated at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital.

Initial investigation results determined that, to prevent rats from destroying the rice field, Mr. Dinh Xuan Thinh had strung steel wire around the edge of the field and then plugged 220V electricity into the two steel wires, so when Mr. Luong and Mr. Y went to fish, they got caught in the power line and were electrocuted. Currently, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has issued a decision to temporarily detain Dinh Xuan Thinh to investigate the act of murder.
