Vietnamese officers and soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping operations have made constant efforts to overcome many difficulties and challenges in carrying out their duties at the mission, in a multinational working environment.
On the afternoon of January 15, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department ( Ministry of National Defense ) and the Military Radio and Television Center (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) jointly organized an exchange program with the theme "Journey for Peace."
At the Hanoi bridge and the bridges in the Republic of South Sudan, the Abyei region, the Central African Republic and the United Nations Headquarters (New York, USA), Vietnamese blue beret soldiers and their comrades and the rear had warm moments of exchange during the days before Tet.
Attending the program were leaders and representatives of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese diplomatic agencies abroad; representatives of international and diplomatic agencies and organizations in Vietnam; Vietnamese officers and soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping activities at connecting points in the missions and their families and home bases.
The program aims to promote the outstanding results of Vietnam's participation in peacekeeping activities in the past year in the Republic of South Sudan, the Central African Republic, the Abyei region and the United Nations Headquarters; and to encourage the spirit of peacekeeping officers and soldiers who have to celebrate Tet far from their homeland.
The activity also contributes to affirming that Vietnam is increasingly proactive in preparing peacekeeping forces ready to take on missions, both on the part of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security; at the same time, it shows the affection and pride of the home front for the blue beret soldiers in the field.
At the program, interspersed between thematic art performances are reports and live, online exchanges with officers and soldiers of the Army and Police who are on peacekeeping duty in areas far from the Fatherland and their relatives.
The audience has been following the stories of celebrating Tet of the green beret soldiers who have been working individually since the early days, the days when there were no green Chung cakes, Tet peach blossoms or yellow apricot blossoms, but only the national flag on the left chest of their field uniforms, carrying the warmth of their beloved homeland Vietnam.

From the Hanoi bridge, on behalf of the leaders of the two forces of the Army and the Police, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Inter-agency Working Group, Deputy Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on participation in United Nations peacekeeping, visited, encouraged, and wished a Happy New Year to officers and soldiers performing United Nations peacekeeping missions via online connection.
