Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has increased its enrollment quotas for several majors, including Traditional Medicine (up 20%), Nursing (up 10%), and Pharmacy (up 30%) compared to the 2024 enrollment quota. The university will implement six admission methods: High school graduation exam results; Direct admission according to the admission regulations; Using the results of aptitude and thinking skills assessments organized by other units; Using only international certificates; Combining high school graduation exam results with international certificates; and Other methods. The university also stated that it will no longer include a foreign language subject as a supplementary criterion when considering equal scores, unlike in 2024 and earlier years.

The Polytechnic University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Natural Sciences, the International University, the University of Health Sciences, the University of Economics and Law, the University of Information Technology, and An Giang University implement three university admission methods: Direct admission; Admission based on the results of the aptitude test organized by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; and Admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam as guided by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

The aptitude test administered by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City has had its structure adjusted to align with the 2018 general education curriculum. A new feature is the inclusion of subjects related to economics and law. Furthermore, candidates can choose which subjects to take instead of being required to answer all questions in Part 3 as in the old test. Currently, approximately 90 universities and colleges use the results of this test for admissions.

Six major universities in Ho Chi Minh City, including the University of Banking Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon University, University of Finance - Marketing, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, and Van Lang University, along with four other universities/schools ( Thai Nguyen University, Banking Academy, Can Tho University, and Tra Vinh University) , will use the results of the computer-based entrance assessment exam (V-SAT) for admissions. The exam consists of eight independent subjects: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, and Literature. The exam content is based on the high school curriculum, primarily the 12th grade curriculum (approximately 90% of the knowledge is from the 12th grade curriculum and 10% from the 10th and 11th grades). In addition, these universities will also use other admission methods.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education organizes a specialized aptitude test, but with several improvements in the test structure. The specialized aptitude test will continue to be conducted with tests in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, and English. The university is also expanding the scope of the test to serve other universities in their admissions process, such as Hanoi University of Education, Da Nang University of Education, University of Industry and Trade, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Van Lang University, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tay Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy, etc.

Nha Trang University uses a combined admissions method based on high school academic results and university-level academic aptitude assessment results. For high school academic results, each major and specialization requires candidates to have taken a certain number of subjects in high school as stipulated. The results in these subjects must meet the minimum requirements announced annually by the university. For university-level academic aptitude assessment results, each major and specialization also requires candidates to participate in a university-level academic aptitude assessment.

The Vietnamese-German University retains the TestAS exam. Accordingly, TestAS is an assessment of critical thinking skills, not simply fixed knowledge.
