Dozens of schools in Ha Tinh devastated by storm Kajiki as new school year approaches

On the morning of August 26th, many teachers from Mai Phu Kindergarten (Mai Phu commune, Ha Tinh province) were saddened to see the chaotic and ruined state of the school, devastated by Typhoon Kajiki. Ms. Phan Thi Bao, the principal of Mai Phu Kindergarten, said that the storm completely blew away the corrugated iron roofs of 8 classrooms and the functional learning rooms. Additionally, four main doors and four windows were damaged. The outdoor playground equipment included two ball pits and a two-story slide, all of which were broken. "Before the storm, the school had prepared very carefully. Toys and teaching equipment were placed on elevated platforms, so they weren't significantly affected. However, the roof, windows, and outdoor playground were all damaged this morning, and everyone felt sorry for them," Ms. Bao said sadly as the new school year was about to begin. According to the principal of Mai Phu Kindergarten, the damage caused by the recent storm to the school could amount to more than 500 million VND. The process of making repairs and preparing for the new school year will be challenging. The entire roofing system for the two-story school building at campus 1 and ... Campus 2 of Dinh Ban Primary School (Thach Khe commune) is severely damaged. In addition, more than 50 fences, green libraries, experiential activity areas, classrooms, football fields, and trees at both campuses of Dinh Ban Primary School were broken and collapsed. The roof of Son Loc Kindergarten was completely blown off. Typhoon Kajiki also caused significant damage to Ha Tinh Specialized High School: 350 meters of fence collapsed, roofs were blown off, playgrounds, windows, trees, and lights were damaged. The estimated damage is over 2 billion VND.
According to preliminary estimates from the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, approximately 130 schools and centers in the area were damaged by Typhoon Kajiki.
Of these, 40 preschools were affected, with total damages amounting to 456.29 billion VND. Sixteen primary schools suffered damage, with estimated losses of approximately 3.4 billion VND. Twenty-one secondary schools were affected, with total damages estimated at around 356.56 billion VND. High schools were also significantly impacted, with 44 schools damaged and total losses estimated at around 19.112 billion VND.
In addition, 9 vocational and continuing education centers in the area were affected, with estimated damages of 850 million VND. At the intermediate and college level, 5 schools were affected, with total damages estimated at approximately 1.336 billion VND.
