Tuition fees, admission quotas and methods of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2024

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will consider admission based on SAT scores for the first time in two majors: Medicine and Dentistry.

Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Khoi, Head of Training Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said on April 12 that in 2024, the school will still use three traditional admission methods, including: direct admission; considering high school graduation exam scores; and admission combined with foreign language certificates and graduation exam scores.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has added an admission method based on SAT scores for two majors: Medicine and Dentistry, with a maximum of 5% of the quota for each major. When applying for admission using this method, candidates must still have a total score of the 2024 high school graduation exam according to the combination that is at or above the minimum score.

The SAT is a standardized test used by many universities in the US and Europe for admission.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy plans to enroll more than 2,500 students, an increase of 100 compared to last year, and open a new Pharmaceutical Chemistry major. The expected quota and admission combinations for each major are as follows:

Last year, the benchmark score based on high school graduation scores of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City was around 19-27.34. Medicine was the major with the highest admission score. The school charged tuition fees of around 42-77 million VND per year (10 months), the highest in the Dentistry major.
