Tran Minh Hoang, a 12th-grade student from Ha Tinh Specialized High School in Ha Tinh province, won the Gold Medal.

Nguyen Dang Dung, a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, won a Silver Medal.

Nguyen Dinh Tung, a student in grade 11 at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, won a Silver Medal.

Le Phan Duc Man, a 12th-grade student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City, won a Silver Medal.

Truong Thanh Xuan, a student in grade 11 at Bac Ninh Specialized High School, Bac Ninh province, won a Bronze Medal.

This year, the Vietnamese delegation included students from all three regions: North, Central, and South. Notably, the delegation included an 11th-grade female student, Truong Thanh Xuan, who excelled and won a Bronze Medal.

With a total score of 188, the Vietnamese team ranked 9th out of 113 countries and territories participating in this year's competition, behind the following teams: China (ranked 1st), USA (ranked 2nd), South Korea (ranked 3rd), Poland and Japan (ranked 4th), Israel (6), India (7), Singapore (8).

Compared to the results of 2024 (2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals and 1 Certificate of Merit), the achievements of the Vietnamese delegation in 2025 have shown a clear improvement.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) will be held from July 10-20, 2025 in Australia, with the participation of over 639 contestants from 113 delegations representing countries and territories. This is the second time Australia has hosted the IMO, after the first time in 1988.

The 2025 IMO exam consists of 6 problems, including 2 arithmetic problems, 2 combinatorial problems, 1 geometry problem, and 1 algebra problem (containing combinatorial statements and requiring combinatorial thinking). This reflects the trend this year's exam leaning towards combinatorial content.

Notably, the only geometry problem in the exam, problem number 2, was proposed by Vietnam and authored by Mr. Tran Quang Hung, a teacher at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

This is the fourth time Vietnam has had a problem selected for the official IMO exam, following 1977 (author: Phan Duc Chinh), 1982 (author: Van Nhu Cuong), and 1987 (author: Nguyen Minh Duc).
