Seminar   “Urban heritage in Ho Chi Minh City and the South in the modernization process: Preservation for sustainable development”

On the morning of October 18, 2019, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Workshop "Urban Heritage in Ho Chi Minh City and the South in the Modernization Process: Preservation for Sustainable Development" was held by the Faculty of History - University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Center for Conservation and Promotion of Historical and Cultural Relics Values ​​of Ho Chi Minh City under the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference received 50 articles and scientific reports from authors from Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces and cities such as Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Ben Tre, Can Tho... The conference organizers divided the topics into three main groups:

– General issues;

– Urban heritage of Ho Chi Minh City in the modernization process: preservation for sustainable development;

– Urban heritage of the South and some provinces in the modernization process: preservation for sustainable development.

With 50 scientific reports, the workshop reflected quite comprehensively the urgent issues that society is concerned about regarding heritage conservation for sustainable development in Ho Chi Minh City and the South in the modernization process. From this workshop, scientists raised a series of issues on research, conservation, and promotion of heritage values ​​today; contributing to providing specific solutions that can be applied in practice. The workshop contributed to raising the voice of enthusiasm so that heritage conservation in general and urban heritage in particular will always receive the attention of scientists, managers and the community.
