“Nuclear energy is a type of energy that can provide a very stable source of electricity, with a fairly long lifespan,” said Mego Pinandito, deputy director for development policy at BRIN.

Recently, the Indonesian government has been discussing nuclear technology as one of the new and renewable energy sources. In this regard, BRIN is preparing everything necessary such as human resources, technological capacity and nuclear energy development planning.

“We hope that the best technologies, with the lowest risk and high efficiency, will be deployed in Indonesia, taking into account Indonesia’s geographical and weather characteristics, as well as other related issues,” said Mego Pinandito.

In addition, the participation of foreign parties is essential in the development of nuclear power in Indonesia. Accordingly, BRIN is waiting for more policies that can encourage this, creating favorable conditions for the development of Jakarta's nuclear power in the future.

BRIN Deputy Director added that with a population of nearly 300 million people and many large industrial zones, Indonesia needs nuclear power plants to meet this huge electricity demand.
