Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were: Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of provincial departments and agencies.
Representing Son Ha Spice Company Limited were Mr. Keiji Taniguchi, General Director, and all staff and employees.

After a period of implementation, the documents and procedures for the construction project of the Company's spice production and processing plant in Yen Dung village, Xuan Ai commune have now been completed, ensuring full compliance with regulations to organize the groundbreaking ceremony.
The project has a total investment of over 350 billion VND, covering an area of nearly 48,000 m² in a region with favorable natural conditions and abundant raw materials. When operational, the factory will have the capacity to produce 50 tons of fresh cinnamon and star anise per day; and process 5,000 tons of dried raw materials per year, with key products including cinnamon sticks, cinnamon chips, ABC cinnamon, and dried star anise.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is a significant event, a great joy not only for the business but also a milestone in attracting investment, developing the processing industry, and enhancing the value of agricultural products in Lao Cai province.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Phuoc affirmed: "In recent years, Lao Cai province has strived to develop its agricultural economy towards a commodity-based, sustainable, and high-value-added approach. However, the production and processing of the province's spice products are still on a small scale, mainly focusing on rudimentary processing, lacking systematic investment in technology and advanced processing techniques, which significantly limits the added value of the products and their competitiveness in the market."
The construction project for the spice production and processing plant in Xuan Ai commune, which has just commenced, is creating a new value chain, from raw materials to the final product, meeting the stringent standards of both domestic and international markets.
This will provide a stable and sustainable outlet for the spice products of local farmers in the province, helping people in the raw material areas increase their income, stabilize their lives, and feel secure in continuing to cultivate traditional spices. In addition, the project will create hundreds, even thousands, of job opportunities for local people, especially those in Xuan Ai commune and surrounding areas.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed confidence that with the systematic investment and strategic vision of Son Ha Spice Company Limited, the factory will become a model of clean, sustainable, and environmentally friendly production, contributing to the protection of natural resources and the preservation of the beautiful landscape of Lao Cai.
The comrade requested that departments, agencies, Party committees, and the Xuân Ái commune government continue to closely coordinate with the company to promptly resolve any difficulties and obstacles arising during the construction of the factory, ensuring that it is completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Keiji Taniguchi, General Director of Son Ha Spice Company Limited, said: “This project is not only the beginning of a new construction, but also a promising start for the Vietnamese spice industry, affirming the company's commitment to Lao Cai province. We are committed to working closely with the local government and community to develop sustainable raw material areas, linking production with environmental and social responsibility at every stage, and above all, remaining steadfast in our mission to bring the Vietnamese cinnamon brand in general and Lao Cai province in particular to the global stage. Together, we will create a modern, integrated production platform that brings pride to Vietnam.”

Lao Cai is a province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains, with great potential for agricultural and forestry development, especially for spices such as cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom. These are specialties with distinctive flavors and high economic value.
Currently, Lao Cai province has over 144,000 hectares of cinnamon plantations, of which approximately 97,000 hectares are concentrated, specialized cultivation areas. Over 23,700 hectares of cinnamon have been certified organic, with an annual production of over 25,000 tons of dried cinnamon bark and approximately 1,000 tons of cinnamon essential oil. Cinnamon not only contributes to poverty reduction but also serves as a source of wealth, helping tens of thousands of households, especially ethnic minorities, to increase their income and improve their livelihoods. The province has been implementing numerous programs and policies to encourage farmers to develop concentrated, specialized cultivation areas for this spice crop.
