The restoration of bus route 86 has received enthusiastic support from many students and residents of Ho Chi Minh City.
Route 86 connects 3 universities.
According to the Public Transport Management Center, this route has been restored with a connection between the city center and South Saigon, passing through several universities such as Ho Chi Minh City Open University, University of Natural Resources and Environment, and University of Physical Education and Sports .
Service resumed on September 5th after nearly three years of closure, fulfilling the expectations of the people, especially students.
Operating hours are from 5 AM to 7 PM daily, with 110 trips per day. The route now includes new stops at Long Kieng Bridge and the Cultural and Sports Center (Le Van Luong Street). Ticket prices: 6,000 VND per regular trip, 3,000 VND per trip for students, and 135,000 VND for 30 tickets.
On the afternoon of September 8th, Mr. Trinh Hoai Nam, a driver on this bus route, said he was delighted to be able to help students get to school more easily and conveniently during the new school year.
"I enjoy meeting young people and listening to students tell stories about their studies. Many even thank me for taking them to school in place of their parents. I feel both happy and embarrassed," he expressed.
Studying far from home, choose the bus to save money.
After three days of commuting, Yen Nhi, a second-year student at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, shared with Tuoi Tre Online that she previously used the university bus to get to school. Each day, she had to pay 35,000 VND for the ride.
Since this bus service resumed, you only have to pay 6,000 VND for a round trip with your student card.
"I've saved quite a bit of money. I save almost 30,000 VND a day, which is nearly a million VND a month. I can use that money for other personal purposes," she said.
Van Hien, 22, a student at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that since bus route 86 resumed operation, he decided to choose the bus as his means of transportation to school, instead of using a motorbike as before.
"I think it also contributes to building a civilized, clean, and beautiful city. Buses are now starting to run on electricity, which reduces environmental pollution. Young people like us are gradually switching to taking the bus to contribute to the green transformation," said Van Hien.
